Product Introduction

cMT-iPC15 & cMT3151, a perfect data integration of the upper and lower layers of the factory

Before, the conventional cell phone could only be used for calling and texting. Following the introduction of iPhone 3GS, phone usage entered a new era – an era of smartphone. With the ability to run third party applications, smartphones not only expand the capability of the phones, but also eliminate the cost associated with the purchase of task-specific device. For example, downloading a GPS app removes the need for a GPS device; downloading a dictionary app removes the need for an electronic dictionary; using the camera function of the phone plus a photo editor app removes the need for a digital camera; and using the built-in clock app removes the need for an actual clock.

Let’s adopt the same concept to the industrial control field. Conventional HMI can only be used for parameter input, machine control, data logging, alarm notification, and plays only a complementary role to the PLC. In contrast, the HMI in the generation of industry 4.0 must be able to run third-party applications on the same platform. Example scenario include: Viewing, exporting, and printing the data / event log of the device in Excel, consulting the user manual in PDF Reader, modifying PLC program in PLC programming software, contacting a personnel in a faraway office through messaging app such as Skype. Just as how cell phones have evolved into smartphones, the conventional HMI should evolve into smart HMI. That is, HMI not only functions as monitoring and control device on the plant floor, but also serves as a communication bridge linking on-site machine and a host computer (eg: ERP, CMS, SCADA). Weintek has released a brand new model cMT-iPC15, which functions as HMI, and also runs third party applications. cMT-iPC15, based on Windows OS, can connect cMT-SVR using cMT Viewer and serves as HMI, and it runs third party applications. By using EasyLauncher dedicatedly designed by Weintek R & D group, it’s easy to customize cMT-iPC15’s desktop into smartphone-like UI and manage access control of apps.

Equipped with Intel Atom E3827 1.75GHz dual core processor (also known as Bay Trail), cMT-iPC15 boasting powerful computing capability, In addition, SOC chip rated at under 10W provides excellent energy efficiency. The aluminum enclosure and front panel comply with IP65 standard, and the rear cover has special waterproof and heat sink design. Its SSD Flash memory outperforms conventional HDD in terms of speed and stability.

Based on the architecture of cMT-iV5 + cMT-SVR, Weintek has released another new cMT model: cMT3151. The new model is not only a standard HMI, but also a server that allows user access with cMT Viewer running on cMT-iPC15, iPad, Android Tablet, or cMT-iV5 for remote control. Considering that a compatible printer for HMI may be hard to find for some users, cMT3151 supports Linux CUPS, which supports major brands of printers on the market (ex: HP). The user simply needs to connect cMT3151 with the printer.

cMT-iPC15 has two built-in tools: cMT Viewer and EasyLauncher. The cMT Viewer HMI software can connect to cMT3151. cMT3151 supports SQLite that stores data in a streaming manner. This prevents data loss if the SD card or USB drive is accidentally disconnected when storing data. cMT3151 can record video of the machine operation, with which help troubleshooting in the event of an error. cMT-iPC15 uses integrated memory controller that supports ECC (Error Correction Code), which maintains data reliability and integrity. The built-in MySQL Client in cMT-iPC15 can store event log /data log from cMT3151, which can be displayed on cMT-iPC15 using Excel.

cMT3151 Dual Ethernet ensures high level of security
Ethernet is poised to rise as the standard communication method of PLC, for its faster speed, higher reliability, and noise free characteristics compared to the RS-232/485 serial port. If HMI only has one Ethernet port, simultaneously connecting HMI with the controller and the host computer requires that all three nodes (HMI, controller, host computer) be in the same network. In this kind of system, security concern arises when the controller is at risk of external access via the host computer since the host computer may be connecting to the external network. cMT3151 is equipped with dual Ethernet ports that ensure HMI can be on two independent networks, whereby one port connects to the controller and the other one connects to the host computer (ex: cMT-iPC15), or is used for remote control (ex: EasyAccess 2.0). Not only will the separation of networks effectively avoids the possibility of network interference, but it will also greatly improve the reliability and stability of data transfer of cMT3151.

cMT Gateway G03/G04: The Hassle-Free Bridge to IIoT

Product Introduction

As the wave of IIoT strikes the industry and the value of information gradually gains attention, retrofitting existing systems for IIoT enablement brooks no delay. While cMT Series Gateway: cMT-G01/G02 has been helping a great number of users overcome obstacles related to connecting miscellaneous devices to IIoT, certain reality restrictions, such as insufficient budget, aged equipment, discontinued modules, lost equipment details, or unchangeable software / hardware…,etc, can make it impossible to adopt cMT-G01/G02 as an IIoT solution. To address this issue, Weintek has released new Gateway models: cMT-G03/G04, which can painlessly connect existing devices to IIoT without the need for modifying system architecture, thus eliminating the trouble of updating system, and greatly reducing possible cost incurred by repeated investment.

cMT-G03

Equipped with two serial ports (COM) and one Ethernet port (LAN/WAN), cMT-G03 can function as a serial bridge. Simply by connecting COM1:IN with an upper layer device (HMI/SCADA), and COM2:OUT with the existing device (PLC), cMT-G03 bridges the upper layer-to-device connection while being completely transparent to the system and ensures that existing operation is not affected. This is done without the need for an additional serial port on the device.

 

cMT-G04

Equipped with two switches (SW) and one Ethernet port (LAN/WAN), cMT-G04 can function as an Ethernet switch. Simply by connecting the upper layer device (HMI/SCADA) and the exiting device (PLC) with cMT-G04’s SW ports, cMT-G04 bridges the upper layer-to-device connection while being completely transparent to the system and ensures that existing operation is not affected. This is done without the need for an extra industrial Ethernet switch.

 

In both architectures described above, cMT-G03/G04 can independently communicate with the devices, and convert the protocols to MQTT, OPC UA, and SQL…etc, seamlessly integrating data to IIoT. The drivers supporting bridge connection have been thoroughly tested by Weintek RD Team to ensure stable and reliable communication quality. Inheriting the design concept of cMT-G01/G02, the cMT-G03/04 models are as compact, power-saving, and easy-to-install as its predecessors, and at the same time retain many data analysis functions of an HMI, such as macro, data transfer…etc. In terms of software, cMT-G03/04 supports both EasyBuilder Pro and web setup as its predecessors, making its configuration extremely intuitive and easy.

MT8103iE with Wi-Fi Feature in Application

  1. Sometimes wiring isn’t easy in a factory. By using the wi-fi module of MT8103iE to connect to a router, wiring workers don’t need to install an additional Ethernet cable to HMI.
  2. MT8103iE is able to be installed in a mobile machine without an actual cable. The following machines are examples:
    I. Stacker: MT8103iE are used to display serial numbers of the goods and where they are stored.

II. AVG (Auto Guide Vehicle): MT8103iE are used to connect to a router and receive information about transporting goods.

III. Truck: when a truck gets back to a station, workers can read the information from the truck through wi-fi such as temperature in a refrigerated truck and weighting data of a fruit truck.

3. Communicating with mobile objects
I. Connecting to a moving router and read Ethernet remote I/O.

II. Connecting to an overhead crane instead of wired festoon systems. Saving money and avoiding interruption.

III. Connecting to a remote I/O in a rotation component of a machine, like a beverage bottling machine.

4. Convenient for engineer to access
I. As long as both MT8103iE and a laptop connect to a router, engineers can download HMI projects to MT8103IE and operate the HMI by VNC or remote HMI mode without opening the enclosure or plugging an Ethernet port .(Tethering can replace router).
II. Engineers can modify PLC program by Ethernet pass-through. It is helpful for a test run and troubleshooting.

5. EasyAccess2.0

  1. I. Engineers located in the remote place are able to operate MT8103iE which connects to Wireless Access Point (WAP) from a cell phone.
    II. MT8103iE can connect to the Internet through 4G Broadband Router.

    When maintenance staff in a plant needs to fix a machine that is out of order, theycan connect MT8103iE with the software EasyAccess2.0 through tethering. Therefore, PLC or HMI engineers located in other place are able to access MT8103iE, know the status of the machine, and debug. HMI also can send emails to inform OEM of the status of the machine.

SQL Query

In the era of Industrial 4.0, a clothing manufacturer may need to turn its original mass production of the same style of clothing into making a variety of different clothes, in order to meet the needs of different orders and achieve customized production. This requires dispatching the production resources of production lines, such as adjusting the use of different fabrics, dyes and production equipment, which depends on the styles of clothes. It also requires updating the production resume to the ERP system, integrating the data with procurement, sales, shipping departments in order to handle product life cycle completely.

  • For different products, automatically adjust equipment’s parameters and the use of fabrics.
  • The equipment in the factory should be able to upload the manufacturing data to a platform, which can combine with ERP system.

SolutionsSQL query on Weintek HMI

  • Connect to SQL server by HMI, update the recipe through Ethernet.
  • Combines with ERP system through HMI and SQL server.
  • The operator on site can make SQL query on the HMI. The HMI will update the query to SQL server, and then deploy resources in different production line depending on different production rate.

Update recipe online

After setting the query command on HMI, the HMI can get the recipe in SQL database. The operator will be able to choose the equipment’s parameters, fabrics and dyes on SQL database depending on different orders. The data can be sent to different HMIs on different equipment through Ethernet, and PLC will get the parameters from HMI.

 

Combination of SQL database and ERP

HMI will gather the production data from PLC, and then upload the production resume to SQL database through SQL query. IT department can easily combines the data into ERP since SQL is very familiar to them.

 

On site real time dispatching

Operators on site can use SQL query through HMI, deploy production line’s resources based on the actual production rate. For example, there are two lines named A and B. Line B’s production is faster than line A. The operator can deploy more fabrics to line B, and use more carriers to put the products manufactured on line B.

cMT Diagnoser

Aiming to enhance the functions of cMT Series models, Weintek RD Team has developed a new tool, Diagnoser, which allows diagnostic operations such as read/write register values of HMI and PLC in online/offline simulation.

 

How to open Diagnoser:

In off-line/on-line simulation, this feature can be opened from the right-click menu.

 

 

 

In the Diagnoser interface, the objects used in the current window and their operating addresses are shown in a table.

 

Changing register values in Diagnoser is possible by selecting a window number in [Current Window] drop-down list.

Diagnoser also allows triggering macro and provides results viewer.

 

Please note that Diagnoser will not show objects without operating addresses, for example, Function Keys.

Execute multiple commands with one touch on cMT series

When an operator needs to execute serial commands, sometimes he needs to press different buttons to do so. These buttons may be crowded on HMI’s screen. From now on, Combo Button on cMT series has combined more features. Which includes: All features of Function Key (Change Window, Keyboard Input, Screen Hardcopy, Import Data.), Wait Until etc. In later version of EasyBuilder Pro, Data Transfer will also be available.

Product Introduction

As Internet of Things and Industry 4.0 trigger a sequence of industrial upgrades, the demand for machine integration and data interchange is also on the rise. Responding to the trend, Weintek is releasing an all-round cMT HMI solution which offers diverse high-performance HMI products to integrate miscellaneous systems.

cMT Series models not only bring unprecedented visual experience with attractive, easy-to-edit project screens and built-in window transition effects, but also support powerful connectivity, including MQTT and OPC UA, direct connection with database, and more than 300 communication protocols.

With the release of cMT3072 (7”) and Wi-Fi HMI cMT3103 (10”), cMT Series now comes in an even wider range of sizes. cMT Series also realizes multi-display and remote control. By running cMT Viewer application on cMT-iV5, smartphones, tablets, or PC, the operators are able to remotely monitor and control cMT HMIs, and at the same time use smartphone as barcode scanner, media player, or IP camera viewer.

Product Introduction

Integrating miscellaneous equipment for factory automation has never been an easy task. Since each machine uses different controller, when integrating with other IT/OT monitoring system, data transmission is limited because controllers use different protocols, and this is one of the obstacles that makes productivity improvement efforts ineffective. Take changing parameters as an example, the operator needs to walk to each machine and manually enter parameters. Moreover, due to a lack of data accessibility, the potential problems in the factory may not be easily found, and can eventually lead to defective products being made. To deal with this situation, OPC standard was released in 1995 to address the communication issue between control devices from different manufacturers, and in 2006, OPC UA made it possible to access the same device information regardless of operating systems used. In fact, OPC UA has been officially recommended by German Industry 4.0 for use in industrial communication.

cMT-G02 Communication Gateway is not only equipped with an Ethernet port, but also supports Wi-Fi, which enables it to communicate wirelessly when wiring may be limited by the environment.

With the de-facto IIoT protocols standard: MQTT and OPC UA built-in, cMT-G02 can well fit into lots of applications and integrate real time data from different devices, to provide a standard communication interface.   • Push Notification and pass-through connect to a remote PLC (EasyAccess 2.0)
    EasyAccess 2.0 can remotely debug or update devices without the need for adjusting firewall settings. With EasyAccess 2.0 push notification, users can receive immediate notification about the operation errors on their portable devices (iOS/Android).
