EasySystemSettings

Do you wish to hide HMI system settings menu, but worry about the need for changing the settings afterward? Do you consider setting the HMIs one by one a time consuming and tiring job, especially when handling a large number of units? EasySystemSetting editing tool can save you all the trouble!

EasySystemSetting editing tool allows pre-configuring the HMI system settings on PC. The settings can be exported as a settings file, which can update the system settings on HMI, via Ethernet, USB cable, USB drive, or SD card.

The configurable settings include Network (uses DHCP or static IP), Security (stores all passwords for accessing HMI), History (deletes historical file), and more (includes VNC server, HMI name, HMI backlight brightness, or screen orientation…etc.)

Advanced Usage Examples

Scenario 1.
A distributor sells an HMI together with a machine to a factory. In order to prevent unauthorized change of settings by the end user, the system settings menu may be hidden on HMI. EasySystemSetting editing tool allows saving the system settings into a settings file, and the file can be given to the end user by an authorized access, for updating hardware system settings.

Scenario 2.
When a large number of HMI units require the same system configuration or modification, EasySystemSetting editing tool can effectively finish the job by exporting a system settings file.

Display Object Address

In EasyBuilder Pro, It is now possible to display object addresses in the project editing screen. This will allow the user to find the right object in an instant, thus saving plenty of time during the project development phase and allow user to print the editing screen as reference document.

Example:

In the following screenshot, 20 toggle switches look alike with their addresses hidden. It can be difficult to find a specific object to modify parameters.

Having object addresses displayed changes all that. As shown in the following screenshot, for example, if one wants to change the setting of the object, using address 0x104 or address tag “system start 3”, these objects can now be found immediately.

BACnet COV

WithBACnet COV feature, Weintek HMI can be used in any massive node BACnet system, without problem of communication data overflow. The COV function is a BACnet feature which allows each BACnet device/objects changed from passive server to active server. With this feature the HMI don’t have to constantly poll all the node one by one, the BACnet device will send out data when it is changed. The BACnet COV is as “Alarm and Event” in BACnet subnet system.

Applications:

  • Building Automation
  • HVAC system
  • Security System
  • Control Network

 Example:

The previous EBPro BACnet driver only support the BACnet devices as passive server. If the system contains too many devices, constantly poll and respond data will cause the communication data overflow flow exceeded.

With the COV feature, Weintek HMI support the BACnet devices as active server. Therefore data transmission will only happen when: 1) HMI subscribes the command to the devices or 2) The devices renew the data, it will significantly reduce the communication flow.

What’s special about Weintek COV feature:

The COV feature can reduce the flow issue, however, if the system contains massive devices or objects. During the HMI subscribes or devices renew data, it may cause data overflow. It also provides a special mechanism to distribute data flow. The packet will be sent in sequence, instead of transferring all the data at the same time.

Example:

1. The HMI requests the data from devices (red line). Only three devices having data changed.

2. The blue line device will send the data back to HMI first.

3. After the first device send the data, the second device will send the data back (yellow line).

4. The last device send the data back (green line)

Dynamic Drawing

Dynamic Drawing object allows you to draw a dot, line, rectangle, or even a circle in a specified region on HMI screen at Run Time. When the drawing is not cleared, new shapes can overlap the previous shapes in the same area, until the maximum number of shapes, which is 1000, is reached. The style and color of the shapes are fully customizable, and the shape can be drawn dynamically at HMI run time, making it flexible to draw any shape you want on HMI screen anytime.

Scenario

An operator in a wood cutting factory would like to show the pattern of a wood being cut on HMI screen. Now with Dynamic Drawing object, the wood pattern can be clearly shown.

In the following screenshot, the cutting length and quantity for each step is set in Recipe Database. By setting the cutting length and quantity of each step into the registers of Dynamic Drawing, the pattern will be shown on the Dynamic Drawing object.

Dynamic Scale

Dynamic Scale object facilitates the making of highly customizable tick marks and scale labels whose Max/Min limits can be adjusted dynamically. It can be used to supplement objects, such as Meter, Bar Graph, XY Plot and more, to easily create graphs with full detail.

Scenario

Multimeter, an electronic measuring instrument that combines several measurement functions in one unit, is often used in industrial field for measuring voltage, current, and resistance.

With Dynamic Scale object, it is easy to replicate a multimeter in your project, and one single object is all it takes! As illustrated below, by changing the max. and min. limits during run time, the ammeter quickly becomes an ohmmeter. In this way, Dynamic Scale helps to make effective use of screen space, which can be very useful for small screen HMI, and furthermore, it greatly simplifies project design.

Let’s see the difference between the former object design and the new object design on Multimeter.

Former object design
The scale labels of all measurements need to be placed in advance. They will occupy more screen space, and setting them up can be time-consuming.

New object design
Now with Dynamic Scale, you can adjust scale labels dynamically, combine different measurements in one object, save screen space, and simplify your project.

Bar Graph – Circular Type

Bar graph is a classic object on HMI for diverse industries which converts significant information into comprehensible graphic. Now we present circular type bar graph, a new type of bar graph which provides extra materials to optimize your project.

Application

The following illustration shows two applications using circular type bar graph.

  • A full circle bar graph does a great job in representing the percentage of CPU load, while a semi-circular bar graph makes clear relative indication in representing pressure/speed.
  • The circular type bar graph can perfectly visualize your project, and can meet a wide variety of demands.
  • Bar graph displays percentage with only one parameter. If you want to include several parameters that represent each percentage of all individually, please select object “Pie Chart”.

FB MSTP

With BACnet MSTP driver, Weintek HMI users will no longer require the BACnet adapter when you want to use BACnet MSTP device. And you can use Weintek HMI with more flexibility.

With this new driver

  • You won’t need to purchase BACnet adapter additionally.
  • The cabling on site will be easier.
  • The HMI can join the BACnet MSTP devices domain.
  • With EasyAccess 2.0, you can monitor BACnet MSTP devices remotely.
  • With Weintek cMT series, you can use MySQL database to manage all the data of BACnet MSTP devices without a BACnet server.

For example

If there’s a system integrator, who is installing BACnet system into an office building. Without the BACnet MSTP driver, he has to install a BACnet adapter and a router in each one of offices.

With the BACnet MSTP driver, he won’t need to install BACnet adapter and router in every office. He can install the HMI into BACnet MSTP system directly.

Using EasyAccess 2.0, even the user is not in the building, he can use smart phone or tablet directly to connect the BACnet MSTP devices such as the lights or air conditioner in the office.

What’s more, with Weintek cMT series, the user can use the MySQL database to collect the BACnet MSTP devices’ data like temperature, humidity and power consumption in every offices for central management. He doesn’t need an extra BACnet server to manage all the data.
