Configuration

By connecting cMT-SVR with PLC, the cMT-SVR can receive data, which includes current temperature and compressor’s state, from PLC.

The cMT-SVR is equipped with dual Ethernet ports that ensure HMI can be on two independent networks, and strengthen data safety. By running EasyAccess 2.0 and cMT-Viewer programs, mobile monitor and remote control are enabled in the new system.

By connecting cMT-iV5 with cMT-SVR, the data in cMT-SVR can be displayed. The neat appearance of cMT-iV5 fits perfectly even in the office, and the visualized user interface can offer the most intuitive experience and satisfy diverse demands.

Application

Everyone in the office can adjust the temperature of different areas by running cMT-Viewer on the computer now. If there are many users, EasyBuilder Pro can be a perfect user authentication manager. Besides, there is no need to worry about the waste of energy. EasyAccess2.0 can remotely connect and control the HMI to turn the power off anytime.

The ability of EA 2.0 is more than your expectation. It doesn’t need complicated network setting. On the other hand, as long as you have internet access, you will be able to download project, monitor PLC with Pass-through function, even to update PLC program.

While HMI is generally associated with industrial manufacturing, advances in HMI hardware and software capability have opened the doors for HMI to be used in a wider array of applications. At Weintek, we have put together a proof-of-concept miniature plant factory. Essentially, a plant is placed in a “factory” box of which we monitor environmental indicators and provide lighting, air, and humidity control with our HMI. Moreover, new features has enabled us to do it in a more user-friendly, creative, and innovative way.

Synergy of Past and Present

For this plant factory, we utilize two of the leading HMI models, eMT3070 and cMT-SVR. We can note the synergy of them from this demo setup.

1. Despite the fact that cMT architecture is new, cMT-SVR’s communication capability has remained as powerful; both eMT3070 and cMT-SVR have direct access to the PLC.
2. Even though only one HMI can access temperature sensor due to physical constraint, it poses no issue. Data can easily be shared between cMT and non-cMT devices. In this particular case, data is transmitted via serial port over Modbus client/server relation.

EasyAccess 2.0

With both HMI connected to the Internet, they can be easily accessed, with the help of EasyAccess 2.0. Weintek’s EasyAccess 2.0 provides a hassle-free, minimal setup remote access technology for users to monitor an HMI faraway. For eMT3070, one can use VNC to view the screen exactly as it appears on site. On the other hand, cMT-SVR can be accessed simply with cMT Viewer. As cMT Viewer requires much lower bandwidth, it is considered a preferred way when it comes to remote access.

A Different Point of View

In addition to monitoring and logging of key environmental data in numeric, each HMI has a USB camera attached for real-time view of the factory. eMT3070 will show camera feed on its screen, and it is also programmed to capture snapshots of camera video on a regular basis. This kind of pictorial information can be archived to track and monitor in a different way, more than just numbers and trend graphs.

Video Streaming on cMT-SVR

For cMT-SVR, video monitoring is done by video streaming, which is the latest addition to the rich repository of cMT-SVR functions. With video streaming, one can stream video from a USB camera on the cMT-SVR. Since a web browser is the only thing required, video can be practically viewed on almost all devices with minimum setup. Combining video streaming with EasyAccess 2.0 means that it is now easy to get live monitoring video on any device, anytime, anywhere.

Andon has been widely used in manufacturing plants for instant visual management. With Andon system, alert messages and key productivity indicators from production line can be collected, displayed and monitored in realtime. Weintek’s mTV series, an HMI without touch panel, satisfies the needs of a complicated manufacturing area. Designed to be light weight, open, and simple, MQTT is a subscriber/publisher messaging transport protocol that is considered a great solution for applications where small code footprint is required and/or network bandwidth is scarce. It is particularly suitable for continuous monitoring of sensory data such as temperature, pressure, water level, energy monitoring…etc.

How HMI fits in

HMI processes data from PLC and publishes messages to an MQTT broker, which will handle message delivery to the subscribers. In this manner, message publishing is possible even when the HMI is positioned behind firewalls and access to HMI is difficult.

Alternatively, MQTT messages can be published internally to a built-in MQTT broker. That is, an external broker is not necessary; one can use an MQTT client to subscribe directly to the MQTT broker inside the HMI and receive message updates!! This scheme can be realized even remotely as long as the MQTT client can connect directly to HMI, such as with VPN or EasyAccess 2.0.

The fourth industrial revolution is taking place right now, are you ready for it? Still feeling upset about how to make your factory work smarter and organize the HMI data more efficiently? Database Server is definitely the solution. The newly released object by Weintek, Database Server, can connect to the SQL database on a remote computer and synchronize the data sampling, event log in HMI to the SQL server. The users can easily manage the HMI data logs by the third-party applications on the computer.

Scenario

An engineer would like to retrieve the HMI data in his office, use Microsoft Excel to show the data and do a further management. With Database Server object, the data logs in HMI can be synchronized to SQL database server. Then the engineer can use ODBC to connect to the SQL database, access the data in SQL and perform further management with Microsoft Excel.

PS: Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) is an API developed by Microsoft, which can access the database management system (DBMS). The application using ODBC driver can link to the DBMS easily.

Following the increasing attention being paid to the energy issue in the globe, effective energy management has become more important than ever. Weintek cMT Series HMI supports energy meters that are clearly visualized on the screen, to help your business avoid extra energy costs.

Features

With this new energy management method, you can find out the energy demand from any energy meter you use. Energy demand is calculated according to the total consumed energy in a specified period of time. By setting two parameters, which are Demand Update Frequency and Demand Duration, you can continuously get the updated energy information. Before setting the parameters, please confirm with your power company, in order to set the time intervals correctly. The calculated energy demand, as well as the threshold limits can be viewed from Energy Demand Display object, helping the operator to immediately make decisions.

 Operation

In EasyBuilder Pro toolbar select Energy then you will find the objects related to Energy Demand Setting.

In General tab you can designate an address to record the accumulative energy consumption and set the parameters for calculating energy demand. You can also set two levels of threshold limits, Warning and Alarm, in the Demand Threshold tab and designate two bit addresses for notification purpose.

Energy Demand Display object graphs the result from Energy Demand Settings object at HMI runtime. Energy Demand Display clearly visualizes the changing of energy demand, and is highly customizable. You can customize the grids, texts, and lines to make the display very suitable for your application.

Other meters can use this object if HMI could read the accumulative energy consumption address. Broadly speaking, this is an expectation model that can be further applied in flow management, including water, sewage treatment and gas.

With VNC viewer, Weintek HMI users will be able to use one HMI viewing another HMI’s screen or a PC which has VNC server installed.

Application

The operators don’t need to prepare a PC and an additional working space to use VNC function viewing the screen of HMI anymore. They can use one HMI to monitor/control HMIs in different stations. The operators on site won’t need to walk through the entire field and improve their working efficiency.
